Dean M Koch
Coach Dean Koch comes to DFAC swimming with a wealth of swimming and coaching experience. His most recent coaching experience was for the Saint Charles Swim Team (SCST) located in St. Charles Illinois. SCST is a 350 member team that is continually ranked one of the top 2 teams in Illinois. His positions with SCST included Lead Coach for the Senior 1 training group, assistant coach for the National and Senior 2 training groups, as well as the Lead Coach for the SCST Non Competitive Swim Team.
Dean’s coaching career began back in High School where he was an Assistant Coach for the Sauk Prairie Pool Sharks (summer league team), where he eventually became Head Coach. He has held several coaching positions with different clubs as well as high school teams. Coach Dean has coached all levels of swimmers from Beginners to Olympic Trial qualifiers. He was also very active on SCST Board of Directors and acted as the Treasurer for four years as well as running the administrative and operation functions of the club.
Coach Dean’s passion for swimming began when he started competing for the Sauk Prairie Pool Sharks at age 5 and continued on at the Sauk Prairie High School where he was a 4 year letter winner, school record holder, multiple Conference Champion and a Small School State Champion. He went on to swim for the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee where he was a four year letter winner, school record holder, national qualifier and a 5 time honorable mention All-American.
Coach Dean is married and has two daughters who are also very active in swimming and swim coaching. He moved back to the Madison area the summer of 2015 and is very happy to be back home.
